NEW!! CHRISTMAS TRAIN & LIGHT SPECTACULAR

The Museum puts on a holiday glow for evening viewing and attractions.  A treat for the eyes & ears, with coordinated light and sound displays, more than 11,000 twinkling lights, holiday animations and seasonal features on the layouts, hot cider, and more!  NOTE HOURS: Fridays in December (2,9,16,23) from 6-9 pm and Saturdays (3,10,17) from 7:30-9:30 pm.  Only $4 per person, under age 2 FREE.

Event: Family Fun Day at Bellamy Mansion Museum, Sun, Sep 28 1:00p

Face painting, storytelling, live music, coloring, children's tours of the Mansion, photo ops with cutouts various 19th century games, craft tables to make kites, origami, coloring, puppets and holiday ornaments. The holiday ornaments will be for a Bellamy tree at the Betty Cameron Women's & Children's wing of New Hanover Regional Medical Center. There will be children's tours of the Mansion and storytellers. There will be farm animals including chickens, pony rides and a petting area.

Event: Family Science Saturday: Ocean Adventures at Cape Fear Museum, Sat, Sep 13 10:00a

Examine sea life up close as you explore ocean science. See why the estuary is called the “ocean’s nursery” as you conduct experiments with salt water and fresh water. Examine local shells and learn about North Carolina’s state shell. Use magnification tools to analyze shipwreck artifacts. Dissect an ocean specimen and make a model sea star to take home. Parental participation is required. (10 AM: Preschool) (11 AM and 12 PM: Ages 5-14)

Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra & Junior Strings SPRING MATINEE Sunday, March 22, 2015 | 4 pm | Kenan Auditorium Introduce the kids to the joy of an orchestra concert with the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra, conducted by Steven Errante, along with the Wilmington Symphony Junior Strings, conducted by Jane Tierney. General Admission tickets are $5 (plus tax) for adults, FREE for youth 17 and under, and available at the Kenan Auditorium Ticket Office one hour prior to each concert.

Event: Film Club: Movie Making for Teens and Tweens at New Hanover County Public Library, Thu, Sep 4 4:00p

Kids ages 10 through teens will work as a group to create and star in their own short film at this 3-part workshop at NHC Library! They'll learn and practice narrative skills and gain experience in negotiating solutions with their peers. The workshop is free but space is limited. Preregistration for the series and attendance at sessions on September 4, 11, and 25 is required.
